| This novel comes directly out
of the Hudson canoe journey. One story always leads
to another, and then another, and so on. In Kingston,
New York, I met a boat captain named John Cutten who
told me the pirate story of Captain Kidd burying treasure
on the Hudson. He and I spent many hours wandering
the shores of the river thinking about the treasure
that is said to still be hidden somewhere along the
river's banks. In the next few years, I hope to write
more novels like this, stories which come directly
out of my travels. |
