Jean was visiting her son Craig George, who is a
wildlife biologist studying bowhead whales in Barrow, Alaska. These
photos were taken in Craig's house the day a polar bear
wandered through town, then out on the ice of the Chukchi
Sea.
When
he heard about the bear being only three blocks from
his house, Craig went out with Jean to look for the bear
with rifle in his truck. One
doesn't go far in Barrow without taking a rifle for protection. |
